 Training Schedule - Foliage Fighting

This discipline is intended to build up your resistance to nettle stings, thistle scratches and bramble barbs, essential for effectively fighting your way through the woodland section of Tough Guy.

Tough Guy Nettles (Urtica dioica ) sting you because the hairs are filled with formic acid, histamine, acetylcholine, serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine), plus unknown compounds. People have been using nettles for food, medicine, fiber, and dyes since the Bronze Age. The Romans treated rheumatic conditions by flaying their joints with fresh nettles so as to stimulate blood circulation. At Tough Guy we like to continue the tradition of healing the tired aching limbs of Tough Guy warriors. A tincture of the fresh leaf applied locally to an inflamed joint will induce counter-irritation and produce reddening over the joint. Blood is thus flushed through the area and out to the surface of the skin, where the toxins may even be taken off in the fluid of a burst blister...alternatively we can get you to run through thickets of Tough Guy strength Nettles working on the theory of prevention is better than cure.
Don't forget to shout Yohimbe!

Basic Foliage Fighting - Belly Crawl

In just shorts and t-shirts find a thicket or copse at least 30 yards long.  The object is to traverse it by crawling the most direct route regardless of the undergrowth, keeping you belly in contact with the ground at all times.
